Too Many Flowers

Original still life depicting a watering can and a few flowers.

Story: The bouquet was heavy and extravagant. And too big for the vase that sits on my dining room table. I thought I had too many flowers. The watering can lacks elegance. I keep it on the kitchen windowsill, a reminder to myself to water the plants. But it occurred to me that it might make the perfect home for a few stray flowers. And as soon as I placed the first of the roses in it, I knew that I was right, about that at least. I was wrong about the other thing. I didn't have too many flowers.
