A Ballerina's Bubble

Painting of a ballerina seated, against an abstract background in shades of teal, black and gold.

Story: What I do feels fragile, as if it could burst with the prick of a pin, like a bubble. I've worked my whole life for it. I've never wanted anything else. And I know that one day it'll be taken away. Ballerinas aren't forever. Oh, I'll always be a dancer. That marriage of music and movement will always be the woven fabric of my soul. But one day the centre of that great stage will no longer belong to me. So this time needs to be enough. And it will be. I'm good at taking care of bubbles.
