The Hustle and Bustle of London Town

A young woman carrying shopping bags joins the crowd on a busy pedestrianised London street in this original painting.

Story: This is what I love about London! Oh, you're looking at me and thinking the shopping. I can tell by the way you're rolling your eyes. But, no, I'm not about to go on about the shopping here in London. Although I could – but that's another story. What I actually adore about this great city is that one moment a girl can be sitting in her flat doing not a lot and feeling not significant at all, and the next she can venture out and instantly be part of something. And it's something fabulous that's living and breathing and changing with every step she takes. I feel more alive when I'm lost in a crowd that moves like a wave through the street. My mouth waters at the wafting smells of food from restaurants where I might one day eat. Errands are potential adventures: something exciting could happen at any time. And from the top deck of a big red bus, I can see lots of people just living their lives, and that always makes me smile. The country may offer peace and quiet, serenity and calm. But when I need to remember I'm not alone in this world, nothing beats the hustle and bustle of London Town.
